StreamOnApi

API infrastructure that works when you need it

Built on Real Problems, Not Buzzwords

Back in 2019, we started StreamOnApi because we kept running into the same frustration. Every streaming project needed custom infrastructure work, and most solutions were either too expensive or too complicated for what they actually delivered.

Our Beginning

Started Small, Stayed Practical

We began with three developers and one simple goal: build streaming infrastructure that actually works for businesses in Southeast Asia. Not the flashiest tech stack or the most features—just reliable, well-documented APIs that teams could integrate without spending weeks on setup.

The Vietnam market gave us unique challenges. Internet infrastructure here can be unpredictable. Latency matters more when you're serving users across different provinces with varying connection quality. So we built our systems to handle those realities from day one.

By 2024, we'd helped over 80 companies integrate streaming capabilities. Some needed basic video delivery, others wanted complex multi-region setups. What they all appreciated was getting straight answers about what would work and what wouldn't.

We're not trying to compete with the global giants. Instead, we focus on being the practical choice for businesses that need streaming solutions adapted to regional requirements, with support teams who understand local business contexts.

What Actually Drives Us

These aren't mission statement fluff. They're how we actually make decisions when building features or helping clients troubleshoot issues at 2am.

Real Reliability

Uptime matters when your business depends on streaming. We maintain redundant infrastructure across multiple data centers and monitor performance obsessively. When issues happen, we're transparent about what went wrong and how we're fixing it.

Documentation First

Good documentation saves everyone time. Ours includes actual code examples, common pitfall warnings, and realistic performance expectations. No marketing speak in the technical docs—just what developers need to integrate successfully.

Practical Solutions

We recommend what makes sense for your use case, even if it means suggesting a simpler setup than what you asked for. Sometimes the most sophisticated solution isn't the right one. We care more about your project working well than upselling features.

Local Context

Operating in Vietnam taught us to design for variable network conditions and regional infrastructure realities. Our architecture assumes that connectivity can be inconsistent and builds in appropriate fallbacks and optimization strategies.

Responsive Support

Our support team includes actual developers who understand the technical stack. When you contact us with an integration question, you get answers from people who've worked with the same APIs, not scripted responses from a generic help desk.

Continuous Improvement

We regularly update our infrastructure based on client feedback and performance data. Feature requests get evaluated based on how many clients would benefit and whether we can maintain them properly—not just whether they sound impressive.

How We Got Here

The actual milestones that shaped StreamOnApi, without the usual startup mythology.

1
March 2019

First API Version

Launched with basic video streaming endpoints. Honestly, it was pretty limited—just what we needed for our first three clients. But it worked reliably, which mattered more than having dozens of half-tested features.

2
October 2020

Multi-Region Infrastructure

Added regional distribution after clients kept hitting latency issues serving users across Vietnam. This changed everything for performance. Suddenly we could offer reasonable load times even in provinces with slower connections.

3
May 2022

Enterprise Support Program

Started offering dedicated support for larger implementations. Turns out companies really value having someone who knows their specific setup when things go sideways. We keep the team small but technically deep.

4
January 2024

Developer Platform Overhaul

Completely rebuilt our documentation and testing tools based on feedback. Added sandbox environments, better error messages, and integration examples for common frameworks. Made onboarding significantly smoother for new clients.

5
September 2024

Adaptive Streaming Enhancement

Improved our quality adaptation algorithms to handle sudden bandwidth changes better. Particularly useful in mobile scenarios where users move between connection types. Testing showed 40% fewer buffer interruptions in variable conditions.
